Maverick Vinales has won the MotoGP Virtual Grand Prix of Spain, the third digital race organised for the premier-class.

The Monster Yamaha rider was among several to fall at turn one, then again later, but still fought his way through to second then was handed the lead when Francesco Bagnaia crashed while holding a 6sec advantage in the closing stages.

That incident also put Alex Marquez into second, while Bagnaia completed the podium.

Brother Marc slowed down and waited for Danilo Petrucci on the final lap to make a battle for fourth, the Ducati rider then falling as he tried to pass the reigning champion!

The 11 riders - each team was offered one entry with the exception of Repsol Honda, which had two entries 'as reigning MotoGP Champions' - competed for 13 laps of the Jerez circuit, on what should have been race day at the real Spanish Grand Prix.
